BETHLEHEM, Pa. - We are learning new details abouta scary scene that unfolded Tuesday morning in Bethlehem where a woman allegedly shot and killed her neighbor's dog.
Court paperwork identifies the woman as Becky Carrasquillo-Rodriguez, 49, of Woodbine St.
The shots were reported around 7:30 a.m. near Woodbine and Fairmount streets. Police could be seen in the area for hours asking for the woman to surrender.
A Bethlehem Police Dept. detective reports on Tuesday morning a witness was pulling into the parking lot of the Pep Boys and heard three shots fired. The detective reports the witness parked in the alley near the 1500 block of Woodbine St. and watched as a woman, identified asCarrasquillo-Rodriguez, shot at a house and then entered the home.
In a police interview, the paperwork writes thatCarrasquillo-Rodriguez told officials that people who "lived in the area" were plotting to harm her.
Carrasquillo-Rodriguez continued to say during the police interview that she could "listen to neighbors through the wall."
Carrasquillo-Rodriguez admitted she grabbed herGlock 17handgun and walked to the rear of her neighbor's home with the intention of finding the people who were "plotting to harm her."
Paperwork continues to describe the events, writing the woman looked through her neighbor's kitchen window to see it was empty before entering.Carrasquillo-Rodriguez says the neighbor's dog started coming towards her, and she shot the animal.
Carrasquillo-Rodriguez says she left the home at this time, but shot her gun four or five more times at a connected shed, believing people were inside the shed.
The dog, identified by police as Ruby, died.
Authorities sayCarrasquillo-Rodriguez left the neighbor's home, but came back to pick-up shell casings.
Once she returned home,Carrasquillo-Rodriguez tells police she washed her hands and hid the shell casings and the gun.
The paperwork says additional victims were inside another home at the time of the shooting. That home was in the direction of where the shots were fired.
Carrasquillo-Rodriguez is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, cruelty to animal with injury, and recklessly endangering another person.
Carrasquillo-Rodriguezis behind bars in the Northampton County Prison. Bail was set at $500,000. She has a preliminary hearing set for June 25.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
