The 2020 college football season may be a little different, but we can still tailgate at home. For all of you Knights fans out there, we’ve made a nitro coffee co*cktail in honor of the UCF mascot “Knightro”. The Knightro mixes local nitro coffee, bourbon, orange liqueur, homemade vanilla simple syrup and cream to create a winning combination not witnessed since the Knights undefeated season #nationalchamps. This adult iced coffee is sure to get you charged up for game day.

What Ingredients Do I Need To Make The Knightro co*cktail?
The Alcohol
The Whiskey: Use bourbon in this recipe, the natural sweetness and vanilla notes work perfectly in this nitro coffee co*cktail. Use your favorite local bourbon, our go to is Florida Double Cask Bourbon from St. Augustine Distillery. This fantastic bourbon adds hints of caramel, chocolate and a delicious nuttiness that shines through in this co*cktail.
Other good choices are Florida Reserve Bourbon from Timber Creek Distillery and Old St. Pete Sweet Corn Whiskey from St. Petersburg Distillery.

The Mixers
The Coffee: Floridians are likely already aware of the gem of a local coffee company: Made Coffee. If it sounds familiar, then you may have seen their beautifully designed cold brew and nitro cans in your local Publix. If you are hearing about them for the first time reading this then you’re welcome. They are about to become your favorite coffee brand!
This St. Petersburg based company set about bringing convenient chilled coffee to people dealing with the Florida heat. Using techniques typically used in beer brewing they built a proprietary brew system to mass produce, and can, quality cold coffee. Thus Florida’s original canned cold brew was born.
Their canned options include their original cold brew, their nitro brew and if you like it a little sweeter, their con leche. If you are a cold brew fan, then you can pick up their 96 oz brew box online as well as all of their bags of whole bean coffee. Their Nitro Brew, that we use in this co*cktail recipe, isn’t available online yet, but you can find it in Publix statewide. Find your nearest store that carries Made here.
Recommended Coffee: Made Coffee Nitro Brew
The Orange Liqueur: The orange liqueur adds a subtle hint of orange that ties all the flavors together. You can use Cointreau, but Florida has their own local version! We use the delicious local Florida orange liqueur from St. Petersburg distillery calledTippler’s.
FYI it also goes great in our Pineapple Margarita, Florida Orange Cosmopolitan, Grapefruit Martini and Florida Orange Manhattan.

The Sweetener: For this nitro coffee co*cktail we use our homemade vanilla simple syrup. This simple syrup is very easy to make and mixed with the nitro coffee and cream it makes the drink taste like a boozy vanilla latte!
The Cream:We use half and half which creates a drink that is plenty indulgent. If you want to make it even more decedent then sub in cream.
What Equipment Should I Use To Make The Knightro co*cktail?
The Glass: Serve The Knightro co*cktail in a short tumbler glass. We typically use a double rocks glass (also called a double Old Fashioned glass). This is a great style of glass to have at the ready, as it is versatile and can be used in all kinds of co*cktails.
Recommended Glass:MARQUIS By Waterford Double Old Fashioned/Rocks Glasses, Set of 4
The Shaker:We highly recommend the beautiful patterned copper shaker from Absolut Elyx Boutique. Not only is it sturdy and well made, but the etched pineapple and flower design is stunning.

How Should I Serve The Knightro co*cktail?
Shaken or Stirred: Both. Shake the coffee with bourbon, orange liqueur and simple syrup to mix thoroughly before pouring over ice. Add the cream or half and half and then stir to combine. If you are looking for a new co*cktail shaker, then look no further than the beautifully designed brass shaker from Absolut Elyx Boutique. You can get $15 off your first order by using this link.
Straight up or on the rocks: On the rocks. Think of this as an adult iced coffee. Serve over plenty of ice.
