Deuce gets loose

Deuce Vaughn has captivated Cowboys fans since the team selected the 5-foot-6 running back in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and he's continued to electrify throughout training camp and the preseason. In his NFL debut last week, Vaughn racked up 50 yards on just eight carries and found the end zone for the first time as a professional. On Saturday night, he continued his preseason excellence with another score. After taking the hand-off, he cut upfield, then cut upfield again, THEN spun out of an arm tackle and finally crossed the goal line for the 14-yard touchdown. Dallas could have something with Vaughn and Tony Pollard as its one-two combo in the backfield.

Trey Lance rebounds, leads game-winning drive

Former No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance needed this. After a rough outing in Week 1 of the exhibition season, Lance rebounded to lead a game-winning drive on Saturday night vs. the Denver Broncos. Per ESPN, Lance went 4 of 8 for 31 yards and an INT on his first two series. As for his final two series: 8 of 10 for 142 yards and a TD.

Love is (for) real

All the hype about Jordan Love this summer came to fruition early in Green Bay's second preseason game against the Patriots. Love, who played well last Friday night in Cincinnati, hit Romeo Doubs on a gorgeous completion in tight coverage down the far sideline. It was one of several impressive plays in the first half from Love, who is taking over as the Packers' starting quarterback after being Aaron Rodgers' backup each of the last three seasons.

Tyjae Spears has arrived

The rookie running back out of Tulane has the potential to be a nice change-of-pace back in Tennessee behind Derrick Henry. He's shifty yet aggressive, and has some home-run hitting potential.

That's pretty cool. After Porter Jr.'s first INT, he gives the ball to his dad.

Two drives, two touchdowns for Steelers' starting offense

Pittsburgh's starting offense is 2-for-2 on touchdown drives this preseason. After scoring on its only drive last week in Tampa, RB Jaylen Warren opened Saturday's game vs. Buffalo with a 62-yard touchdown run. Warren has played well this summer after having a strong rookie season last year.

Dolphins rookie carted off

Devon Achane has been electric for the Dolphins throughout training camp, but the third-round rookie left Saturday's game against the Texans on a cart. It looked as if the injury may have come at the end of his 20-yard burst early in the second quarter. The defender picked Achane up and slammed him to the ground at the end of the play -- with all of the weight coming down on his shoulder. While he played on Miami's first drive of the third quarter, he eventually had to be carted off. Reporters on scene think he was holding his shoulder on the cart, but the Dolphins have yet to put out an official injury update.

Speaking of high draft picks, how about this strip-sack and fumble recovery by No 3 overall pick Will Anderson. Anderson is surely motivated after some draft analysis said he had a "down" final season at Alabama.

Great play by Anderson, but the snap was high, which didn't help backup QB Skylar Thompson.

Really encouraging throw by Stroud, a tough completion on the near sideline on a designed roll out. Stroud did a lot of this at OSU and it looks like Houston is implementing more plays that he is comfortable with. Throws like this is why Stroud went No. 2 in the draft.

Not a great start for the Dolphins' offense vs. the Texans. Looks like Tua hurried the throw without having his feet properly planted. It's the preseason for everyone.

That said, give the Texans' defense for not biting on the play-fake, putting pressure on Tua and having players were appeared to be anticipating a hurried pass.
