I am excited to try some of the instant pot Chinese recipes below, because I feel like I just don’t have enough of them.
What are the different types of Asian food?
According to Asian5,
Chinese, Japanese, Mongolian and TaiwaneseCuisinesare collectively known as EastAsian Cuisine. Being one of the most populated regions of the world EastAsiahas many regionalcuisines. Rice, Noodles, Soybeans, and Seafood are some of the staple EastAsian foods.
But what about West Asian Cuisine or North or South? Lumping 49 countries and 3 territories (over 30% of the habitable earth) all together really does a HUGE disservice to the diverse people, cultures, and flavors of them!
Personally, when I think of Asian foods, I think of cooked chicken in teriyaki and soy sauce soaked lo mein.
I think of fried rice, Mongolian beef, and stir fry chicken!
I think of a super easy chicken recipe: chopped chicken thigh in sweet and sour sauce or a chicken breast shredded before being mixed with cabbage and served in egg rolls.
I think of great recipes with brown sugar sweeteners!
What do you think of when you think “Asian inspired”?
Is it better to Slow Cook or Pressure Cook?
I mean, “better” is subjective isn’t it? As long as the recipe is good and you use ingredients that pair well with each other, your food is going to be good. I think it really boils down to which you need to do today or what cook time works best for today’s schedule.
A slow cooker typically makes much more tender meat, but you have to prepare ahead of time to use this small appliance! Typical slow cooker meals take a minimum of 4 hours and often up to 7 or 8!
An pressure cooker, on the other hand will get most dinners done in less than an hour! Dried beans or frozen meats ca be completely done (without being tough or dry) in around 30 minutes! That means that you don’t have to resort to take out if you are running low on time, forgot to presoak beans, or didn’t pull any meats out of the freezer.
Personally, I believe that a busy Mom (like myself) should have BOTH a slow cooker and an instant pot as they are both useful for different reasons.

Also, my husband especially likes to use the instant pot, and it works for his busy schedule because he can pick up the ingredients on his way home and throw it all together in less than an hour.
